By Angela James,

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Edo State, Professor Yinka Omorogbe has come under serious scrutiny as she is being accused of diverting funds from foreign donors meant for government programmes that bothers on human trafficking to herself and other Non Governmental Agencies, NGOs, that has no bearing with the project.

Speaking with our correspondent in Benin, the President of the Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) Comrade Curtis Eghosa Ugbo questioned the rationale behind the involvement of African Network for Environmental and Economic Justice, ANEEJ, and other NGOs noting that they have absolutely nothing to do with the issue of human trafficking.

Comrade Ugbo cited as an example SOTIN, a Department for International Development (DFID) project worth N3 billion which she diverted to her NGO, Edo Women Development Initiative (EDWI) while giving some part to another group, African Network for Environmental and Economic Justice(ANEEJ) which has no relationship with such a project.

He stressed that letter has been forwarded to the NGOs through their Legal Department asking them to explain their roles in the matter adding that a letter has also been forwarded to the Governor of the State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki intimating him of the goings on.

Comrade Ugbo who reiterated the determination of BSM to champion the course of the Edo people maintained that Professor Omorogbe should give detailed account of the fallout of some funds made available by foreign donors for projects to rehabilitate returnees which have since generated a lot of arguments.

He also questioned the recent appointment made at the Benin Airport which he said was not in line with quota system.

He called on the Minister for Aviation, Hadi Sirika to as a matter of urgency correct the anomaly committed there maintaining that the Edo people cannot be short changed.
