Audition for ‘Poetry Slam’ holds at Ughelli, August 28th

The first-ever Poetry Slam organized in Delta State would be taking place at Ughelli in a bid to promote the art of poetry in the Niger Delta region and beyond.

According to a press statement by Omoro Blessing, the Creative Director of ECHOES, the organizers of the Poetry Slam tagged: “ECHOES SLAM IT”, the event promotes creative writing and poetry that is gradually taking a nosedive in the region.

It disclosed that it’s agonizing to keep untold story inside of you, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside of you.”

She stressed that poetry as a medium gives the poet access to express itself in a language laced with symbols.

The Poetry Slam winner is expected to go home with N50, 000 and with exposure to other higher platforms to showcase his/her talent.
