Asaba Central Hospital to be commissioned Jan, 2018¬- Okowa …Commissions’ 12 Roads in Asaba

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has commissioned Twelve Intra-city roads in Asaba just as he assured Deltans especially residents of Asaba that the Central Hospital project awarded since 2006 will be put unto use by January 2018.

 

He stated this during a schedule inspection and commissioning of projects as part of activities marking the second year anniversary of his administration.

 

The Governor who was obviously not happy over the delay in the completion of this project said “The contractor has just told us that the hospital project will be completed by November 30^th, this project started since 2006 when I was Commissioner for Health, some additions have been added to the contract design and renovation made”. Adding that “It will help meet the health needs of the people when completed and would provide all round health services at a cheaper rate to the people”.

 

On construction of roads, the Governor who said the twelve internal roads completed and commissioned in the state capital was awarded between November and December 2016 said they were part of his administration`s effort at enhancing road infrastructure  and improve the lives of the citizenry.

 

He said “I believe that when these projects and others at various stages of award and execution are completed, the people of  Oshimili South Local Government Area and the entire State will have improved inter-city road transportation that enhances urban growth, communication and re-invigorate  commerce and social life in the area”.

 

At the Asagba`s Palace, an occasion that preceded the commissioning, Governor Okowa was presented with catalogue of requests which include the upgrade of facilities at the Anwai Campus of Delta State University (DELSU), Construction of more access roads within and around Asaba, provision of  Public Cemetery, putting an end the activities of unregulated sand quarrying in the vicinity of residential places among others.

 

The twelve intra-city roads commissioned by Governor Okowa in Asaba included the following: Isioma Onyeobi Way, Stadium and CapWire road, Odiachi Street, Ibenuwa Street, Governor’s Street, Ojife Street by AGGS and Obi Okolotu / Anthony Anonye Street. Others are; Nduka Illoba Street, Moloko and Casloba Street.

 

The commissioning ceremony was grandly rounded off with a Town Hall Meeting held at the Grand Hotel where the Governor said the purpose was for Deltans to participate in the process of governance and give useful suggestions to improve governance process.
