Alleged rapist escapes lynching in Sapele

By Onitsha Shedrack,

Mr John Onose, a 54 years old man accused of allegedly defiling a 7years old girl in Sapele, Delta State, narrowly escaped been lynched at the Central Hospital Sapele by some angry women at the hospital over the degree of injuries inflicted on the little girl’s private part.

An hospital source who simply gave her name as Mrs Jane Oghenefovie, stated that when  the former PDP councillor Mr Onose,  was brought to the hospital by the police for medical test to ensure that he has not infected the child with HIV and STD, that some angry woman pounced on him.

According to Mrs. Oghenefovie, it took the timely intervention of the policemen who sensed the danger whisked him away before the women vent their anger on the suspect over what they term a heinous crime against a baby.

“The man is an animal and the police should have left it for us to teach him a lesson, how can he rape that poor little girl, a seven years old baby; that is the height of wickedness. A man with six children, if one does that to his daughter will be happy?

The women would have tore his manhood apart, go a see what he did to that little girl private party; the man is evil and should not be allowed to walk the street free, because many other children’s lives could be endangered if such a man is set free.

We thank God that he is now in police custody, that man should be investigated, they way I saw the body of that baby, this man could be a ritualist, if not what does he want to do with the child’s womb that he has forced out,” she asked?

It would be recalled that Mr Onose, who is said to be married with 6 children, was accused by Mrs. Onome Ojakovo, of luring her baby girl in kindergarten 2 pupil to nearby bush and sexually abused the little girl leading to her admission at the Central Hospital Sapele.

Narrating her ordeal to our correspondent who visited the victim at hospital, Mrs. Ojakovo stated that when her child came out, she didn’t suspect anything, though the child told her that her ‘bombom’ is paining her.

According to her; “when my daughter came out from the corner of Mr Onose’s house, she complained of pains in her ‘bombom’, but I didn’t pay serious attention to it, because I just thought she might have hit her buttocks on the ground will playing, so I ask her to go and wash herself.

“But when she came back from the school the next day and was still complaining of the pains, I decided to check her pubic region properly, what I saw shocked me,  my daughter was bleeding from her private part with her womb coming out.

“Out of shock, I raised alarm which attracted our neighbours, it was then it done on me that my child had been sexually violated. I started crying and I couldn’t imagine who could have done this wicked act to my little child?

She added that Mr Onose lured her child to the backyard close to the bush, covered her mouth, while insight his fingers into baby’s virginal and also threatened her not to tell anyone.

The woman called on spirited Nigerians to come to her aid as the man and his families are consistently threatening to deal with her and the condition of her baby health is still uncertain, because there is not much improvement.
