By Okpos Oghenetega,

As the 2023 elections gather momentum, the Executive Director of Finance and Administration, on the board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Chief Barr John Obukowho Nani on Sunday has assured his teeming supporters across the state that he will not turn down their clamour for him to be the next Delta Central Senator.

The former Delta State House of Assembly lawmaker, disclosed this at Jesse on Sunday, Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State while playing host to Idjerhe traditional chiefs at his country home in Jesse, Delta State.

He, however, added he would still have to consult with traditional rulers and political stakeholders to seek their prayers on his decision.

“My political life is dynamic, though I have heeded the call of the Urhobo Youth Leaders, I will have to consult with my traditional rulers, and political leaders, and get their prayers, my kingdom chiefs were here on a visit and they asked me if I will be contesting since calls are coming in for me to contest for that position, and I have told them I will be contesting for the Senate under Delta Central, I am qualified for any position, but since we are calling for equity, and we are hoping that Delta Central will produce the next governor, the Senate, for now, is ideal for me”

He however said if he eventually emerges as the Senator representing Delta Central, his tenure will be a harvest of projects “those who called on me to contest for that position knows my ability to deliver, the teeming calls from Deltans both young and old to run will not be in vain, so I have decided to run for the Senate” he added.

The former Commissioner for Environment, however, urged Deltans to continue their support for Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, adding that he has done well “so let us support him to finish strong.”
