Deborah Death: Apostle Igiehon urge Nigerians to tolerate one another irrespective of ethnic, religious differences

The Senior Pastor of Banner of Solution Christian Assembly International Incorporated, Benin, Apostle Dr Emmanuel Igiehon has urged Nigerians to tolerate one another irrespective of religious and tribal differences.

Apostle Dr Igiehon spoke to our Correspondent in Benin against the backdrop of the killing of Deborah Samuel Yakubu, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, for alleged blasphemy against Prophet Mohammad.

Apostle Dr Igiehon described the act as barbaric, inhuman and ungodly noting that the perpetrators should be brought to book because they have no cogent justification to destroy a soul that took God time and resources to create.

“In Nigeria as a nation, everyone has the right to religion according to the Constitution.  Whether you’re a Christian, Muslim, Buddhist etc you have the right to worship which is a life of choice, what you choose is what you follow. But for someone to be lynched and burnt to death because of religious belief is barbaric and ungodly.   If she blasphemed against Islam they should allow God to fight for himself. It’s only God that has the justifiable right to judge. The Federal government should swing into action and ensure that the killers of Deborah Samuel face the law and failure to do so will be tantamount to instigating religious and tribal acrimony. “

The Clergyman opined that the principle of love, peace, and harmony cuts across all religions, stressing that God is not in that religion where these three components are absent.

While advocating for religion and tribal tolerance, Apostle Dr. Igiehon said that not until the northerners begin to see the southerner as a brother and an Igbo man sees a Bini man as a brother Nigeria will not be recognised as an entity.

“Irrespective of our tribe and religion we should see each other as one and that is the only way Nigeria can move forward. All religions should preach peace, love and harmony and that is how Nigeria can be one with all the tribal and religious differences.”
