He described domestic and sexual violence as silent epidemics that
Thrive in an environment of secrecy and shame.
“Journalists must show the responsibility of reporting domestic/sexual
Violence in the society. They are the mouthpiece of the public and theGovernment. They must expose evildoers.
“We can only tackle domestic violence with the support of journalists.
Without journalists, the fight against domestic violence is futile.
“It is every journalist responsibility to sensitize and educate the
Public on the dangers of domestic violence.
“There is the need for public re-orientation which can only be
Achieved with the cooperation and help of journalists,” he said.
He explained that most women have suffered from domestic violence and sexual abuse without notice.
The legal practitioner also called on government at all levels,
Religious leaders, media practitioners and NGOs to organize training for women and the public to prevent domestic violence.
