As part of effort to give back to society and encourage commercial motocyclist, popularly called Okada, the management of Keonamex Petrol, Ughelli, Delta state, has commenced a daily distribution of free fuel to 100 okada riders.

Speaking to advocate.ng shortly after a sensitization rally across Ughelli metropolis on the programme, the Manager of Keonamex Petrol, Lucky Omopekun said the programme was its own contribution to ease the burden on okada riders in the face of the current harsh economy in the country.

He explained that, “this programme is designed for okada riders alone and not for everybody. We want to use it to encourage them. Our boss is very touched with the plight of these okada riders.

“He is very engaged otherwise, he would have been here to lead the rally himself because he is a very grassroot person, he believes in the empowerment of his people, that is why you see him establishing most of his businesses within Ughelli kingdom and environ, because he is a chief in Ughelli. “Many persons, myself inclusive are gainfully employed through him. Apart from the dancers you see during the rally, every other single individual you see on the rally are members of his staff, and that was less than half of us, because many are working on their duty post, the large crowd you see are just those that are off duty this period, that participated in the rally.

“That is to show you how many people he has empowered. So he is somebody very passionate about helping his people. So this programme is more like an extension to what he has been doing. This time around he wants the okada riders to benefit.
