Isoko North Council Chairman debunks report of his arrest

…..By Gabriel Oghenekaro

The Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government of Delta State, Hon Christian Othuke Iteire has debunked news of his arrest by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF in Benin City, and Edo State on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

Iteire who was reacting to news of his alleged arrest on social media describes it as the handiwork of mischief-makers.

He said, contrary to reports making the round by some online media outfits, he was only honourably invited by the Nigeria Police Force on Thursday.

According to the Council boss in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ajiri-Oghene on  Friday, July 23, 2021, at Ozoro, “as a law-abiding citizen of Nigeria, I only honoured an invitation at the Zone 5 Office of the Assistant Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force in Benin City sequel to a petition brought to them against the Council”.

The Isoko-North Council Boss further stated, “I drove down to the force headquarters to clarify the thorny issues in the petition of which my explanation was satisfactory to the Police, and I returned to work at Ozoro same day”.

Iteire, therefore, called on members of the public to disregard attempts by disgruntled elements to discredit the untiring efforts of his administration in delivering the dividends of democracy to the people.

The Council chairman who promised that he would not join issues with his detractors called on the law enforcement agencies to fish out and prosecute the enemies of democracy in the Local Government Area.
