Isoko North Constituency Bye-Election: Ogbimi assures constituents of better days ahead

By Ovasa Ogaga,

Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), for Delta State House of Assembly bye-election,  for Isoko North constituency, scheduled for April 10, 2021, Mr. Jude Omena Ogbimi, has assured his constituents of better days even as he promised to carry everyone along in the scheme of things.

Following the demise of a former member representing Isoko North constituency and majority leader, Delta state house of Assembly, Tim Owhefere, early this year, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), fixed April 10, 2021, for a by-election to replace the late lawmaker.

Speaking with Journalists on Monday at Oyede, Isoko North council area of the state during the party’s ward to ward campaigns across the constituency led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the party flag bearer, Ogbimi, noted that as a lawmaker, he would work to better the lives of his people by influencing people-oriented dividends of democracy to his people.

“As an accountant, politician and philanthropist, I promise not to disappoint my people, my party leaders, and elders for the trust reposed in me by nominating me to replace our illustrious son and one of the most vibrant lawmakers ever had in Isoko North, Late Barrister Tim Owhefere. I am going to the House as a lawmaker, but the truth is that I will allow my antecedents to speak for me even in my private capacity I am known by people as someone who supports the course of the common man.

“The common man has always felt my impacts in my community and Isoko North in general in the areas of empowerments, education, healthcare, and in other areas. I have given out so many free scholarships to my people, offered free health care. I am a philanthropist who has done so many philanthropic gestures, though the two years may not be enough, I can assure you that my people will feel my impacts as always.

“The antecedents of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, in putting smiles on the faces of Deltans vis-à-vis his SMART agenda has actually motivated me going into politics, his sincerity in politics changed my perception in politics. Go round Delta State you will see that virtually all areas across the three senatorial districts of the state have been transformed with dividends of democracy.

“All the ethnic localities have been touched by the Okowa led PDP administration in the areas of infrastructure, human capital among others. This is the first time we are having a real grassroots governor, so his vision is my vision, his vision is my goal, and as a lawmaker. The youths and women will be placed on high priority because they are the nucleus of any sound economy, so the youths and women must be carried along.

“In Okowa’s administration, the women and youths are well empowered. What I know is that I will never disappoint my leaders and the people for this rare privilege given me so far. The truth is that Isoko North is PDP, Delta state is PDP and PDP is Isoko North, PDP in Delta state. Let me also use this opportunity to appeal to the people of Isoko North that comes Saturday, April 10, 2021, translate into votes all the love and massive supports they have shown me and our party so far during our ward to ward campaigns and rallies.”

Asked if he would exceed the two years given to him to complete the tenure of the late majority leader, Ogbimi, swiftly said “No I will not exceed the mandate given to me to complete the remaining two years tenure of the late majority leader unless the people and the leaders ask me to continue in 2023. Let me use this medium to thank and commend the people of Isoko North, PDP, leaders, elders, and governor Ifeanyi Okowa for all the supports and honour done me.”
