Invest in Bayelsa, Jonathan Persuades South Korean Ambassador

Former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has urged Korean Ambassador to invest in Bayelsa state. Saying there is a better investment prospect opportunities in the State for foreign investors.

The Ex-president made this statement in Yenagoa during a banquet organized by the State government in honor of the South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, Kim Young-Chae, who visited the State.

The elder statesman who spoke passionately about the enormous economic potentials that investors can harness in the state.

He said, “Most cases when companies come into Nigeria, they feel that they cannot invest in young States like Bayelsa, my own state, with relatively low infrastructure development, and have to go elsewhere.”

According to reports, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, quoting the Former President, urged the Korean envoy to seize the opportunity of exploring the vast fertile market of a virgin state like Bayelsa.

He stated that though Bayelsa is a young State, but vastly blessed with enormous resources, hence the like of Daewoo and others can effectively be in business in the States while persuading the Ambassador to encourage Korean investors. “But Bayelsa is where you have the fertile market and luckily, some of your companies like Daewoo and others are here. So they know that Bayelsa is a virgin state. This is a state you should encourage Korean Investors to come in. The government, the Governor, and his team are ready to work with Investors.” gathered that the South Korea Ambassador, Kim Young-Chae while speaking, extolled the exceptional leadership of Governor Diri, assured that his government was looking forward to enhancing the cooperation between it and Bayelsa.

The Ex-president also applauded Governor Douye Diri and his team for a great job of attracting economic giants like South Korea, noted for its technological advancement, to the State.

Responding, Governor Douye Diri said South Korea, which is a world power in technology and among the 10 largest economies in the world, is the right destination to partner with Bayelsa and make the state achieve its full economic potential.

The Governor urged businessmen in the State to take advantage of the relationship established with the Republic of South Korea.

“We believe those from Bayelsa that have been yearning for businesses now have a golden opportunity and let us not let it slip by,” Diri said.

While enumerating the business opportunities in agriculture, aquaculture, the deep seaport project, as well as in oil and gas, the Governor said the State was eager to tap into South Korea’s technical know-how.
