Speaker of the House of Representative, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, has appointed Member, representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency, Hon. (Rev) Francis Ejiroghene Waive as the Chairman of Nigeria/Niger Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Parliamentary Friendship Groups is usually made up of parliamentarians from both countries who meet regularly to exchange ideas on best practices, relations between both countries and development issues of common interest.
The appointment of Rev Waive who is also the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Power, Advocate.ng gathered is coming as a result of the key role the lawmaker has played in stabilizing the House and his dexterity during debates on the floor of the House and in managing tasks entrusted on him.
Waive, though a first-timer, has been very visible in the 9th Assembly, contributing meaningfully to debates on bills and motions before the House and was one of those who are ensuring that ethnic and religious consideration does not take centre stage on the floor of the House.
Other members of the group include, Hon Khadijat Bukar Abba, Hon Bello Hassan Shinkafi, Hon Emerengwa Boniface Sunday, Hon Ahmed Mohammed Bukura, Hon Taofeek Abimbola, Hon Zayaad Ibrahim, Hon Mahmud Abudilahi amongst others.
Recall that Nigeria and Niger Republic have enjoyed good neighbourliness and of recent, have improved on their economics and bilateral relationships, building key infrastructures to improve the volume of trade between the two nations and as of today, have a lot going together.
Meanwhile, the Clerk to the National Assembly has appointed Alhaji El-kufahn Ahmed Ali as Clerk to the group.
