Delta LG Polls: Akpeki berates Anirah, PDP; task them on projects delivery

…APC know they will fail, they have refused to campaign – Anirah

Chief Paulinus Akpeki

With less than 12 hours to March 6th local government elections in Delta State, tension is currently brewing between the Member, Delta State House of Assembly representing Sapele constituency, Hon Felix Anirah, and APC chieftain, Chief Paulinus Akpeki as  they engaged in a war of words

Anirah, it would be recalled on Wednesday, while responding to questions on the preparations of the party for local government elections, lampooned the APC leaders saying the APC in Delta had refused to campaign, as according to him, they know they will fail.

The lawmaker posited that APC is a group of people who have come together to loot the country dry and how no agenda on how to transform the nation’s fortune.

Chief Anirah, who decamped from APC after the 2015 election, said the failure of the APC led-government is so glaring, described members of the ruling party at the federal level as incoherent, trouble makers, and a group of people who believe in what they can grab for themselves.

Children, Anirah pointed out, “can no longer go to school, people are being kidnapped on daily basis, and what is the legacy they will leave for us”?

“Fuel was affordable when PDP was there, but as we speak today, it is beyond the reach of the common man.

The Central Bank exchange policy is a total mess, the naira has crashed from N170 to a dollar, to N450 to a dollar, this is over 300% on the exchange and they can’t fix it.

“They have decided not to campaign, because it will be foolhardy to campaign in PDP dominated state of Delta” adding, “there is no reason while they are controlling the center and fighting among themselves at the state level, is an indication that they are just a group of jokers”.

He also lamented the high rate of insecurity in the country, saying the situation is such that people now fast and pray before stepping out of their houses on any journey is worrisome.

However, in his reaction, Chief Paulinus Akpeki yesterday berated the Delta House of Assembly member, saying it was obvious he must have made that comment incoherently, as the APC chieftain challenged Chief Anirah to show his constituency projects to the people.

He also jibed at Delta State governor, Sen Ifeanyi Okowa, disclosing why the River State governor Dr. Nyesom Wike has refused to come to commission projects in Delta State, stating it was because Delta projects are shoddily handled across the state.

Akpeki while displaying the Vanguard newspaper report accusing APC of its failure to campaign in the Saturday, March 6th LG elections said Anirah has a right to say anything, “let him talk, he must have said so under some influence.”

He went on “but if he says so, then let me tell you that DESOPADEC did the last project he claims to have done, I saw it on Rero tv, the supply of chairs and desks, let him show us his constituency projects, let PDP show us what they have done to warrant votes, the council should show us what they use the allocation they have received from January 2018 till date to do? Is it the landscaping of the council or the stores at Okirigwhre, is that what he used all the money for?” adding that most roads here are done by the APC government through NDDC.

Akpeki, while responding to question on why APC stalwarts in the local government were absent at the rally, said “there is no division in the party, but come to think of it, is there a party that doesn’t have a crack, let me tell you this Wike refuse to commission projects with Governor Okowa because his (Okowa) jobs are shoddy, and the same National PDP chairman, Chief Uche Secondus is not in good terms with Barr Wike, so there are cracks everywhere”

He said APC will only accept the election result if votes are counted in the polling votes and announced there.
