Cult Clash: Fear gripes Warri residents, 6 persons killed in three weeks

Residents of Warri, commercial capital are living in perpetual fear following a renewed street cult clash which has claimed no fewer than six lives in the past one month.

Residents living in Iyara and Ugbori sleep with their eyes open since the crisis began,   as anybody can be caught in the crossfire as cult-related deaths are daily reported.

The business and nightlife suffer as the war rages while the affected areas now look like graveyards during nightfall as attending night parties or patronizing clubhouses to many is a suicide mission.

There was panic Otovwodo (Agbassa) Community on Saturday when the rumours of possible attack filtered into the town in the early evening, with many relocating from the area to safer places.

it was gathered that the youth Chairman of the Community, Comrade Precious Bazunu did not take chances, as he rose up to the challenge by beefing up security as well leading youths in combing the area in search of street cultists.

Meanwhile, there was a bloody clash among rival cult groups at Hausa Quarters by Warri-Sapele Road, Warri where a suspected street cultist escaped being lynched that same night.
