Anglican Bishop Canvass support for Lagos Oba

 Anglican Bishop of Lagos Diocese, Rt. Rev. Humphrey Olumakaiye, has called on the people of Ilara in Epe Division of Lagos State to support and cooperate with their traditional ruler to develop the town.

Olumakaiye made the plea on Sunday at the Grand Finale and thanksgiving service of Oba Olufolarin week-long First Coronation Anniversary.

The Cleric said that it was imperative for the residents to work closely with the traditional ruler. Adding that with their cooperation, the town would develop better.

“The traditional ruler cannot do it alone. Development requires the support of everyone in the community.

“The traditional ruler is the head of the community, but the people will make things work well for the leader through cooperation and teamwork,” he said.

Olumakaiye thanked the Oba for his financial and moral support to the Church.

He prayed for the successful tenure of the traditional ruler on the throne.

“Your reign shall bring progress, prosperity and development into Ilara community.

“The community members shall know your reign for good,” the cleric prayed for the Oba.

Earlier, the Oba Ogunsanwo appreciated the guests, visitors and the people for felicitating with him on his one year on the throne.

“During my reign, I shall do all in my capacity to attract investment and development into the community,” he said.

Ogunsanwo commended the cooperation of the people, the organizers and the kingmakers.

“I am overwhelmed with the cooperation of the people since the beginning of the anniversary and I pray for a more lasting relationship,” he said.

Highlights of the event included a stage performance of Juju music icon, King Sunny Ade, who thrilled the guests with some of his evergreen songs.
