He noted that adequate security of life and properties was the cardinal point of his campaign promises to the people of Ovwian community.
“And in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s drive for community policing, I set up a security committee headed by the Vice President General and a Toyota Siena Bus was provided for them for smooth operation which brought about relative peace in the community until the recent cult clashes.
“Over 20 persons have been killed in Ovwian, Ekete, Ujevwu, Owhase, Orhuwhorun and other neighbouring communities in Udu LGA as a result of cult clashes”, he lamented.
Urukpe appealed to the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, Chairman of Udu LGA, Hon. Jite Brown and the security agencies to energize the security architecture for proper security.
According to him, people can no longer go about their normal businesses in the urbanized part of Udu LGA for fear of being harassed, robbed or killed.
