Isoko North PDP Caucus Meeting: Macaulay, Ogidi  others stage a  walk out

The meeting of Isoko North political leaders under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), held on Sunday at the residence of RT. Hon. Leo Ogor, ends in a deadlock as prominent party leaders walked out of the meeting over disagreement in selection of chairmanship candidate for the forthcoming local government election. 

 

The meeting which had key political leader of PDP in the area in attendance was held to select a consensus candidate that will fly the party’s flag of in the forthcoming March 6, 2021 local government elections in the state.

 

Advocate gathered that, some political leaders in the meeting rejected the candidate chosen by RT. Hon Leo Ogor and the Majority leaders of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Tim Owhefere, on health ground, stressing that, he is not fit for the position and following the disagreement among the leaders, some of the party leaders walked out of the meeting.

 

It could be recalled that, crisis have rocked the party in Isoko North over who emerges as the party consensus chairmanship candidate in forthcoming local government election, as various groups of PDP faithful in the area have called for rotation of political offices in constituency I &II of the local government.

 

Some groups have requested that, the state House of Assembly seat which has been in Owhe clan for the past 16years be move to Ozoro clan who has held on to the local government chairmanship position for over 12years, while some of the party groups in the area disagree.

 

Reliable source from the meeting told Advocate that, former Secretary to Delta State government (SSG), Comrade Ovuzourie Macaulay, Special Adviser to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, Elder Emmanuel Ogidi, Barr Jay Ogor, and a host of other political leaders in the area rejected Mr Christian Iteire, the candidate chosen by RT Hon Leo Ogor and Hon Tim Owhefere.

 

According to the source; “The reason why the leaders rejected the candidate chosen by the duo of Hon Leo Ogor and Hon Tim Owhefere is for the rotation of the State House of Assembly seat, noting that, if they agree on the candidate Chosen by Hon Leo Ogor and Hon Tim Owhefere, it will give room for Hon Tim Owhefere who is currently occupying the state House of Assembly seat for fourth term and from Owhe clan to go back again for fifth term.

 

“The meeting however ended without choosing a consensus candidate that will be the party flag bearer in the forthcoming local government election. All leaders of the party in Isoko North local government area left for Asaba to meet with the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa who will choose chairmanship candidate that will be the party flag bearer for the leaders,” the source added.
