“We, the undersigned kingmakers and principal member of the Otioghare Family Ruling House of Evwerni in Ughelli North local government area of Delta state which to inform your Excellency that the Ruling House has removed the monarch of the community, Oghenekevwe Kumani, as the Ovie of the Evwerni Kingdom.

“We have removed him, therefore; he can no longer tower over the people. Your Excellency, over four months now, the king has fled the community as he is wanted by Inspector General of police for series of crimes committed against the community.

“Your Excellency may recall that in the year 2000, his late father had a confrontation with the community youths leading to the death of over 50 persons as well as burning down the community.

“Suffice us to state here that the King is the worst worse than his late father as he is on vengeance mission despite the peace brokered by well-meaning Deltans.

“It may interest your Excellency to note that the king was foisted on the royal family despite resistance. It is also pertinent to mention here that the Kumani families are from the Iyade in Isoko South local government but settled in Evwerni many years ago within the human memories after Evwerni have been founded, the institution established. The Otioghare Family Ruling House namely; Echera, Asanuvie, Urofo, Erharha,  Esemerhorho, Erharhor, Idjogho and Akokofuvwe Ruling House have unanimously removed the King for which selection of a candidate for replacement is currently ongoing.

“The monarch has brought shame and disgrace to the entire community as a result of the perennial crisis caused by him. Only recently he instructed his vigilante guard to burn down houses leaving the community in ruin. Several people have fled the community now taking shelter in neighboring communities.

“The royal family, indeed the entire Evwreni Community is tired of the tyrannical government and economic hardship the former traditional ruler has brought to the community.

They added that “in the light of the above, therefore, we humbly appeal to the state government to withdraw his staff of office. We look forward to your usual cooperation.”
