Rotarian Gabriel Ochuko Egba has been installed as the 8 President of Effurun GRA Rotary Club

 

Rotarian Gabriel Ochuko Egba has been installed as the 8 President of Effurun GRA Rotary Club even as the club also inducted new Board for the Club as well.

The ceremony which attracted the presence of Presidents, Past Presidents, Assistant Governors, Family members, Friends and washers took place at the Ishaka Hotel, Effurun.

In his address, Rotarian Egba expressed gratitude to his fellow Rotarians for selecting him to lead the Club for the next 12 months and assured that he is going to be dedicated to the course of Rotary just as he has been doing since his first induction.

He added that since Rotary is all about service to Humanity, and it’s 7 focal points shall be adhered to in course of performing the “Strategic Priorities” of Rotary International, which are but not limited to, Support and Strengthen all Rotary Clubs, Focus and increase Humanitarian Service and enhance Rotary Public Image and awareness.

 

The new President of Effurun GRA Rotary Club also called on well-meaning and kind-hearted Nigerians to assist the club in its projects, which he has slated for execution in order to achieve the maximum result for the 2020/2021 Rotary Year.

The projects are, Post COVID 19 Vocational Training and Empowerment, N50,000,00 Interest-Free Loan for 20 Petty Traders, Peace and Conflict Resolution Talks, Through Seminars among Youths, Community Leaders, Provision of Treated Mosquito Nets for Community, Clean Hand Washing Campaign in selected Schools, Provision of Portable and Rotary Awareness Bill Boards. In line with this year Rotary theme: “Rotary Open Opportunities”

 

In his remark, the outgoing President, Rotarian Daniel Okolo said that the Club started with 45 members but today they are 53.

He stated further that the Club under his leadership gave out N30, 000, interest-free loan to 20 Petty Traders, while10, 000 Notebooks are ready for distribution to 10 Schools.

Okolo also stated that they have been partnering with Uvwie Local Government Council Environmental Sanitation, and have delivered Chairs and Tables to Urhobo College Effurun about four times.

He noted that his administration’s most outstanding achievement was the establishment of Effurun Gateway Rotary Club with 30 members and the winning of 6 District 9141 Awards.

He urged members to give the newly installed President the necessary support to succeed in office.

 

Earlier, Mr Emmanuel Akan, a veteran Journalist and the Guest Speaker, in a lecture titled: “Service as an Effective Tool for Nation Building, The Rotary Model,” urged Nigerian political leaders to adopt the Rotary Model of leadership which is based on “Selfless Service to Humanity.”

Stressing that since first the  Club in Nigeria started 1961, which was Chartered in Kano 59 years ago Rotary has been doing well as a result of its 4 Way Test; which he recommended to Nigerian political leaders.

He attributed the problems facing Nigerians today after 60 years of independence, as of insincere and corrupt leaders and therefore, asks them to emulate Rotarian leaders who placed Service above self.

 

The highpoint of the occasion was the Induction of the new Board by Rotarian Gabriel Ochuko Egba.

The newly Inducted Members of Effurun GRA Rotary are; Rotarian Gabriel Ochuko Egba, President, Rotarian Kenneth Iyere, President-Elect, Rotarian Michael Ibitoye, Vice President, Rotarian Charles Eshemitan, Treasurer, Rotarian Friday Togbe, Secretary, Rotarian Daniel Okolo, Immediate past President, Rotarian Clem Aboderin Chair, Public Image.

Others are Rotarian Emmanuella O.Chair, New Generation, Rotarian Tobore Ojigho, Chair, Rotary Foundation, Rotarian Frank Tobore, Chair, Service Project, Rotarian Linus Albert, Chair, Membership, Rotarian Napoleon Atanefe, Club Treasurer, Rotarian Samuel Oyegwa, Chair, Club Admin and Rotarian Jonathan Okwuokei, Sergeant At Arm.
