Frowning at the killings at Ovwain community, he said that one of the main agenda of the State Governor is to ensure peace and security in Delta, stating that peace is the bedrock of any community development.

“We have met with the police and they have commenced investigation into the security situation. Anybody who is linked to killing in this area would be brought to Justice. Nobody will bring you out of detention once you are linked to the insecurity in Ovwain. I urge you to work hand in hand with the security agencies, the police cannot work without information from you,” he said.

He urged all groups present at the Townhall meeting to work with the Delta State Government and support security agencies to promote peace; promising to convey their message to the Governor.

“Recently, the lawlessness and killing taking place in Ovwain community has become alarming and unbearable because it’s on daily basis, from cult rivalry, territorial supremacy battle and all manners of menace.

These lawlessness has become a threat to the peace and order and no Government will fold it arms, while its citizen are being killed on daily basis by sets of hoodlums, and what these hoodlums failed to realize is that no group is above constituted authority, so, the law will take its course, so caution your children.

“I assure you that your concern will get to the Governor’s table, I will also plead with the relevant authorities to give urgent attention to some of the concerned raised by residents in the affected areas.”

He further advised youths to shun cultism as there is no profit in crime, adding that his progress in life is because he is not involved in criminal activities.

“If I was a cultist, I wouldn’t have been SSA to the Governor, if I was carrying gun, I wouldn’t have been saddled with these responsibilities. So, why don’t you want to be like me?

“Why don’t you have hope that you can be great tomorrow? Why don’t you think that there is a future for you? I am just like every one of you, be focused, circumstances should not lure you into criminal act, I grew up in the ghetto but since I knew where I was going, I worked hard. Don’t allow people use you in the community to commit crime.”

“We have tried our best, we wrote to all relevant authorities to see how they can assist us in arresting this ugly situation but all efforts prove abortive we also drew the attention of his Excellence on this issue, then we began to wonder, Ovwain we know is also a part of Udu kingdom, where people die in cold blood, the attention of the Chief Security Officer of the council was drawn, but nothing was done, as I speak to you we no longer sleep on our Community, we have now become our own security agents always on guard, and when you call the police they will give you unnecessary excuses, like we don’t have fuel in our car, our men are not on ground or our car is faulty.
