The people of Ibrede community in Ndokwa East local Government Area of Delta State has at last selected Mr Aruhor Gregory as the new Odio-Ologbo of Ibrede Community.
Mr Aruhor Gregory from Edi family was picked as the new Odio-Ologbo following the death of HRM, Douglas Illiromah and subsequent assumption and expiration of his eldest son, Mr Patrick Illiromah as regent for three years.
The selection of the new Odio-Ologbo which took place at the weekend at the community market square was witnessed by sons and daughters of Ibrede, the Odio-Uru, the council of Edios, the chiefs, the Oletu-Ologbo, the conference and OSU-Egweya-Ologbo and presided over by the President General of Ibrede community, Dr. Esi Oweh.
Shortly before the enthronement of the new Odio-Ologbo which is not hereditary but rotational, the two quarters, Uruewo and Urethatho of Ibrede had presented Mr Aruhor Gregory and Uche Othuke Ibeni who the constitution stipulated must be persons of impeccable characters and that the family that has the privilege before will not be given again until all other family in the quarter has enjoyed the privilege.
At the end of the selection, the retired DSS officer was unanimously and overwhelmingly picked following his pedigree to the admiration of all and sundry.
The Odio-Ologbo who is the Paramount and spiritual head of Ibrede community constitutionally perform amongst other functions to include, determination of cases involving members of Ibrede community who are not satisfied with the decision given by either the chairman of the community or the Iletu and shall confer chieftaincy titles on any person who is a member of Ibrede community.
The new Odio Ologbo of Ibrede Community would be coronated at a later date.
