Utomi is our best choice, his candidacy will unify Delta APC -AVM Ajobena

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC in Delta State, AVM Frank Ajobena rtd, has said, Prof. Pat Utomi remains the best governorship candidate for the APC in Delta, because his candidacy will unify the party.

He stated this at a retreat organized by Prof Pat Utomi campaign organization drawn from the 25 local governments’ area of the state held at Abraka Turf and Country Club, Oria Abraka, Saturday, adding that Utomi candidacy is amiable to two factions of the party in the state.

According to him, “Utomi remains the best candidate for the party for now, for us, he is the candidate of our choice because he is acceptable to both camps in Delta APC, and if given the party’s governorship ticket, he will unify the party.

Speaking at the retreat, the governorship hopeful, Prof. Pat Utomi charged the two warring factions in the crisis rocking the party in Delta to bury their hatchet and embrace peace. He stated that most parts of his life have been on struggle to free the society from poor leadership induced poverty.

He stated further that the main thrust of his government, if elected as the governor of the state, would be “to end poverty, infrastructural development and empowering community.”

He noted that Delta state compared to Edo and Anambra is a big embarrassment, and that many Deltans who talks to him, expresses shame of what a leading state like Delta has become, a situation he says, motivated him and other to call on Deltans to arise to rescue Delta.

He explained that the easiest way to end poverty in the state is by revamping the educational system, providing qualitative health care which is affordable and accessible, these, he says will save the money parents would have spent on education and healthcare.

Stressing that with the provision social security for poor women, income gap between the rich and the poor will be bridged.

Utomi added that, “God enormously blessed Delta State with talents and resources, Delta should be the base for Nigeria development, but sadly, it’s lagging on all human indices,” saying that Asaba resident now goes to Onitsha for medical needs because of the lack of standard state owned medical center in Asaba.

He stated further that he has the contacts and the global network to attract developmental partners to invest in the infrastructural development, adding that his approach to governance will be bottom to up, bringing the communities into projects planning and execution.

The programme which was an interactive session also saw notable APC leaders in the state, which include; AVM Terry Okorodudu , Dr. Mrs Evelyn Omawumi Urhobo, DG, Chief Malachi Orode; Dr. Omano Edighije, Olorogun Johnny Esike, Prof. G. Isitor, Dr. David Ejenobo, Prof. P. Egbule, High Chief A. Seibi, Chief Alex Ikpeazu, Emmanuel Ogwude, Prince M. Okareme, Dr. A. Elueni, Comr. Tunde Okorodudu, Dr. O. Ogbakpah, and many respectable party men, women and youths  attended the retreat.
