A police source at the ‘A’ Division, Ughelli has confirmed the arrest of some alleged suspects over the killing of a building material dealer identified as Mr. Edjere Omote Justice, 40, who was shot dead at the front of his compound opposite Kubi Hotel, along the Ughelli Patani Road on Thursday, April 5, at about 9pm.
Late Justice, who hails from Oviri-Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government Area was shot dead while relaxing at the front of his compound when some men suspected to be assassins came and shot at him on the chest at a close range killing him instantly.
A cousin of the deceased who spoke to Advocate on condition of anonymity also confirmed the arrest of the suspects stating that his late cousin had a heated arguement with one the suspects earlier that day where a threat was issued to the deceased. He said they are their primary suspects.
When Advocate visited the compound of the deceased, the atmosphere was charged with grief with tears flowing uncontrollably.
The widowed mother of the deceased who recounted how his son died in her present, said she heard the sound of a gunshot and came out as she is aware her son was outside, but said she saw a horror that she has never witnessed in her life.
Continuing she said, “my Justice was on the ground and i shouted, Justice what happened, but he could not speak to me”, stated as she continue to wail.
A younger brother to deceased disclosed that his brother was immediately rushed to the Central Hospital Ughelli after the gunshot but he was confirmed dead.
The wife of the deceased who was in a deep anguished was wailing and weeping profusely as she called out the name of her husband.
