On whether or not he has the backing of some political bigwigs in the PDP, the Ijaw born politician said though he may not be seen as a full time politician but that he is close to all the bigwigs in another platform disclosing that he is not a political god son to anybody. He said God almighty has endorsed him and his people at the grassroot have also endorsed him, that is enough.
He however frowned at godfatherism in politics, stating that it is a major problem killing the development of the country and has affected the politics of Nigeria negatively in all spheres. He described godfatherism as one thing that has deprived the qualify persons of being voted for and those favoured through this obnoxious system only go there to do the bidding of their masters to the detriment of the entire constituents and the constituency. This he said, is a trend and culture that must not be encouraged as it has destroy and deprived the constituents of their political rights many times
He called on his constituents to give his election aspiration support so he could win the primary election and for them to work hard to ensure that come 2019, PDP is voted for massively so that the developmental trend of Okowa will continue..
