Delta LG Election: Two injured, vehicle destroyed as suspected PDP thugs attack APC members in Isoko

With less than 10-hours to the local government council elections in Delta State billed to hold tomorrow, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress,   Mr. Goddy Ewerode has raise alarm following attack on its members at Ellu, Isoko North Local Government Area.

ADVOCATE gathered that the attack, allegedly carried out by suspected PDP thugs, took place around 2.30pm on Thursday, 4th January near the Ellu townhall and was reported to the police around 4.30pm.

It was also gathered that two APC members, Mr John Emobonuovie and Mr Osomowho Idoko, sustained injuries following the attack and were admitted at undisclosed hospital, while a vehicle and musical instrument were also destroyed in the attack.

However, efforts by our correspondents to confirm the reported attack from the police did not yield result as at the time of filing this report, as calls to the FPRO, Delta state didn’t go through.

Ewerode, who is from the area confirming the incidents, told our correspondent that a vehicle that was deployed for the campaign was also destroyed by the hoodlums during the attack and two persons sustained life threaten injuries.

He added, “there is no doubt that PDP is now afraid of the positive strides that APC has made during the campaigns and it may be thinking that it can forcefully win elections by scaring away citizens who simply intends to exercise their right to vote.”

Ewerode stated further that, “we call on Governor Okowa to address his party members to shun violence and give heed to the voice of the people in every area of the State to ensure peaceful and hitch-free elections.

An eye who witness to the attack, Mr Ireanus Usiwo Emuh, the APC Councillorship candidate for the area while narrating his experience, expressed serious concerns about the air of violence that PDP was bringing into this, otherwise simple electoral process.

He however vowed that APC will not be cowed nor be discouraged from going through with electoral process.

He also called on all lovers of peace and well meaning Deltans to prevail on PDP, DSIEC and security agencies to ensure the elections is peacefully, and votes count.
