Angry mob lynched suspected motorcycle thief in Ughelli

Following the increase theft of motorcycles popularly known as Okada in Ughelli and environs, angry mob on Monday, at Afiesere lynched a suspected bike snatcher, simply known as Ejime.

According to a source, the motorcycle was parked by the owner at a particular spot when the suspect with two others now at large came pretending to be the owner unknown to them the owner was watching.

The source further disclosed that the owner raised alarm and at that point, the criminals took to their heels but luck however ran out of Ejime whom is also a tailor and he was caught.

An eye witness account said, youths from the area came out in their numbers and gave them a hot chase but two others were able to escape living Ejime to his fate.

The deceased was said to have confessed to the crime and gave the identity of one of his gang members before giving up the ghost.

The snatching of Okada for some time has become a daily occurrence in Ughelli as over 5 Okada parked at the premises of the Central Hospital Ughelli was recently stolen with reports of others stolen at gun point as well.

An amazing case was that of a man who pretended to be a friend of a deceased brought to the Central Hospital Ughelli but he was not known to any of the family members of the deceased.

According to one of the family members, the thief even help them to carry the file of their deceased brother to the medical records department, but unknown to them he was aiming at the newly bought Okada of the deceased younger brother. As attention was directed from him, he seized the opportunity to strike as he carted away with the Okada thereby adding to the pains and sorrows of the family.
