Ibrahim Idris, the Nigerian Police boss has been having an unfair relationship with the National Assembly in the last two weeks over his refusal to honor Senate’s invitation on Senator Dino Melaye’s detention and the general insecurity cases across the nation. After the third time of absence last week, the Senate frowned against the act, describing Mr. Idris Ibrahim as an “enemy of democracy” who is “unfit to occupy public office”.Today, the Senate President drew the attention of other lawmakers to a pertinent case which subjects the person of IGP to scrutiny.According to Saraki, a group of suspects who had been arrested in Kwara state for cultism and investigation being completed over them were about to go under prosecution under state law under the advice of the DPP and Ministry of Justice but suddenly ordered to be transferred to Abuja this morning.

Saraki further established that the unprecedented order came from the Inspector General of Police.

He placed an allegation that the move was made in attempt to try to see how the statement made by the suspected criminals in Ilorin could be altered so as to implicate the Kwara state government and himself [Senator Bukola Saraki].

“As we speak now, these suspects are already here in Abuja. These acts are of desperation, blackmail and intimidation. All actions to undermine our democracy are a recipe for anarchy because we are doing our work tasking officials to obey the law, due process and subject themselves to constitutional authority. I think it is important that I bring these dangerous developments to your attention, and the attention of the entire country”, Saraki mentioned.
