Senator Omo-Agege escapes assassination attempt …Empowers over 550 Women and Okada riders

Two persons sustained life threatening injure on Saturday when suspected PDP youths attacked Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and his supporters during the second phase of his empowerment programe at Effurun Market, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The programme which was billed to take place in five markets in Effurun, Ekpan, Ugborikoko in Uvwie Local Government Area and Jigbale and Ubogo Junction markets in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State had 1000 persons as beneficiaries.

However, mid-way into the programme at Effurun main market, where 150 out 200 beneficiaries has been given their package, when some hoodlums drove in and started shootings causing panic and serious unrest as people scramble to safety.

Senator Omo-Agege, who came with his wife and family members was allegedly shoot at twice, but escaped by whisker , but one of his supporters’ was hit by bullet and others who were physically assaulted are now receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

Omo-Agege perturbed by the unprovoked attack, drove to the Ekpan Police Stations to lodge complain and continued with his programme in a show of courage and refusing to yield to the violence intimidation.

Meanwhile, Senator Omo-Agege expressed gratitude to the market women and youths for the support he enjoyed from them during the 2015 polls affirming that the gesture was a way of appreciating their support and also assisting them in their respective trades.

He later went to Jigbale and Ubogo Junction markets in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, at Jigbale market 100 Okada riders and 200 petty traders were empowered with various sums to boost their business, while 100 women also benefited at Ubogo market.
