Igbuya missing; as Okowa commission projects in Sapele

———–By Akpos Oghenetega————–

The oust speaker of the Delta House of Assembly, Chief Monday Igbuya was conspicuously missing today as the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa inspected ongoing projects and commission some projects in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, his Deputy Barr Kingsley Otuaro, the new Speaker, Delta State of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Friday Osanibi during the Governor commissioning of projects today at Sapele.

Governor Okowa as part of activities marking his two years in office,  commissioned Ogaga Road, and some projects at Sapele Technical College, Amukpe, Sapele, but the former speaker who represents Sapele state constituency was absent fueling speculation that he has not be reinstated as remoured.

Recall that  rumour going the round that the former speaker Chief Monday Igbuya has been reinstated through former governor James Ibori’s intervention, the sacked speaker and his supporters failed to show up at the venue of the project commissioning.

Meanwhile the newly elected Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori accompanied by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Friday Osanibi were welcome to the venue by Sapele youths and PDP members who were chatting song such as, “Sheriff Oborevwori is our Speaker; “Sheriff Oborevwori is our leader.”

Governor Okowa also inspected the YAGEP Drip Irrigation Tomatoes Farm Clusters at Songhai Delta , Amukpe, and Sapele and thereafter left to Jesse in Ethiope West local government area.

Reacting to this development a Peoples Democratic Party, youth leader in Sapele, Comrade Sunny Nwankego described those celebrating alleged reinstatement of Chief Monday Igbuya, as Speaker, Delta House of Assembly as not gullible but naive about the working of the house.

The youth leader stated this at Sapele today saying that they heard that “some misguided and ill-informed supporters of the oust Speaker were celebrating last night at his hotel alleging that former speaker has been reinstated.”

“To tell you how gullible they are, they failed to know that Igbuya was impeached and suspended for three months and since then the house has not sat; so where and when did members sit to lift Igbuya’s suspension and reinstate him as speaker?

“Let them continue in their self delusion, Igbuya is gone and today we going to receive our new Speaker Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

“To us in Sapele the impeachment of the former Speaker, gift of the governor Okowa’s second year anniversary, it’s a good radiance to bad rubbish.”

According to him, the former speaker in the past two years in office has failed to bring the needed leadership dynamism to the legislative arm of government thereby making the house to remain dormant.

“Igbuya is not fit to be a speaker of the House of Assembly of a state like Delta, for crying out loud, the man in the past two years has not shown in character as a man that can lead the house to complement the effort of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to deliver on his SMART agenda.

“He has displayed gross incompetence,  the impact of the house is not felt in the state, so, I think his impeachment is coming at the right time and it’s a good radiance to bad rubbish,” he added.
