A non partisan political pressure group in Ughelli South that style itself as Youths for Positive Change in Politics, YPCP, has called on the people of Udu, Ughelli North/South Federal Constituency to give their vote to a credible and trusted candidate in 2019 election.

Hon. Solomon Awhinawhin

The youth group also tasked the incumbent member representing the constituency in the house of representative, Hon. Solomon Awhinawhin to come out and give account of stewardship to the people.

Addressing members at a meeting convened at the instances of the leader of the group in Ughelli on Thursday, the President of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Okon disclosed that the aims and objectives of the group is to sensitized the masses especially the youths who are often deceived by politicians with failed and unfulfilled promises.

He enjoined youths to vote for, and support only credible men and women who are ready to listen to yearnings of the masses they represent.

Comrade Okon noted that for several years, our leaders have used our people especially the youths and abandoned them, but laments that due to the poverty level in the land, most youths still fall prey to the fake promises of Keke empowerment, Motorcycle or Grinding machines which in most cases are never fulfilled.

He expressed disappointment over the poor representation of the Hon. Solomon Awhinawhim, maintaining that, the lawmakers does not mean well for the people, but only for himself and his cronies.

He maintained that because Abuja is far from the people, these politicians take the masses for granted, adding that “most a time, only the State Assembly members manage to empower some selected people, not those at the federal level.”

He said beginning from 1999 when democratic rule returned to Nigeria, the Udu, Ughelli North/South Federal Constituency have not felt the impact of any of the representatives elected, stating that the worst among these lawmakers is the incumbent, Hon. Awhinawhim.

He stated further that though Hon. Awhinawhim is second term lawmaker, his representation has been abysmally poor and lacks vision for the constituency.

He affirmed that, beginning from Chief Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo who represented the constituency in 1999 to Chris Oghenechovwen, then to Solomon Awhinawhin,  Austin Ogbaburhon and back to Hon. Awhinawhim; no tangible development have come to the constituency especially the Olomu kingdom where Awhinawhin hails from maternally.

Comrade Okon also blamed the past lawmakers for level of poverty and sufferings in the constituency noted that none of these leaders deserved a vote from the people especially the youths.

He added that henceforth, only credible and God fearing people will occupy leadership position in Nigeria irrespective of party affiliation. He further disclosed that it is on this premise the group has resolved to stand firmly behind Rev. Francis Waive whom he described as competent, honest, and sincere and God fearing.

The group urged all Olomu indigenes and Ughelli North/South and Udu federal constituency to support the servant leader and called on all leaders of thoughts in the three local government to ensure Rev. Waive mandate is given a nod so that the average man, woman and youth can benefit and have a feel of the federal government at the grassroot.
