BreakingNews: Oba Akiolu’s palace razed by fire

A part of the palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu at the Iga Iduganran area of Lagos Island was gutted by fire on Tuesday night even as men of Lagos State Fire Service firefighters battled to put out the fire.

According to a report monitored in the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) by our correspondent stated that the fire started from an air conditioner in an apartment inside the palace.

The fire which started at about 1.30pm, after which Lagos State Fire Service firefighters attached to Iganmu were contacted, lasted for about an hour before it was put out by the fireefighters.

NAN reports that the firefighters from the Lagos State Fire Service, Sari Iganmu and Ilupeju stations, responded swiftly to put out the fire.

A senior emergency official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident, saying the fire had been put out.
