Tragedy: Four dies in boat mishap on their way to Tompolo’s father Burial

Tragedy struck on Friday as four sympathizers reportedly died in a boat mishap on their way to the  Burial of Chief Thomas Ekpemupolo, father of wanted ex-militant war lord, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a Tompolo, as the news the marred the lavish celebrations.the-burial-of-chief-thomas-ekpemupolo-father-of-wanted-ex-militant-war-lord-chief-government-ekpemupolo-a-k-a-tompolo

The four victims according to our source had barely taken off from the Miller Waterside, Warri, on their way to Kurutie, venue for the funeral rites in Warri South West council area, Delta state when the speedboat they boarded capsized, with many of them not putting on life jacket.

Confirming the tragic incident, a Gbramatu community leader who spoke to us but pleaded anonymously stated that, “we were already at the funeral celebrating Chief Thomas Ekpemupolo when we got news of the accident.

“Initially, we were told only two persons had died. Further details later revealed that about four persons, three females including one Faith (surname withheld) from Ogulagha, another female from Kurutie and a man apparently from the Northern part of the country, lost their lives in the mishap.

“The Hausa man I gathered was actually not an invited dignitary, but someone who was conveying some wares to trade at the funeral ground.”

The funeral of the late Chief Ekepmukpolo continues on Sunday with his interment at Okerenkoko, his final rest place where another wake keep was held in the weeklong funeral.
