The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial district, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege said that his victory at the Court of Appeal has changed the political dynamics in Delta State.
Senator Omo-Agege stated this, weekend at the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ughelli, Delta State during the thanksgiving service on his victory at the Court of Appeal Benin City and his swearing-in as senator representing Delta central senatorial district.
He noted that it took God’s intervention for him to reclaim his mandate, stressing that at the lower tribunal, judgment were churned out without recourse to relief sought by the applicants, because judgments were predetermined by set of compromised judges.
Sen. Omo-Agege while thanking God for his victory at the Court of Appeal, Benin-City, said: “My Court of Appeal victory changed the dynamics of politics in Delta State.
“This is despite the fact that the past and present governments of Delta State made efforts to stop me from reclaiming my mandate by compromising the judges at the lower tribunal but God gave me victory at the appeal.”
He added that efforts were also made to stop him from been sworn-in by the same forces but God through the leadership of the Senate ensured that the right thing is, despite the boasting of those who are bent on holding the Urhobo nation down.
Earlier Rev. Fr. Anthony Ozele in his homily during the Omo-Agege’s thanksgiving urged the National Assembly to support President Muhammad Buhari anti-corruption fight in order to re-position the country for greatness.
“If the anti-corruption war is to be successful, the national and state assemblies must support Mr. President on this fight and he should not limit the battle to the administration of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan but must be extended to other sectors of the economy,” the cleric stated during his homily.
He enjoined the president to pay particular attention to the civil service which he described as the breeding ground for corruption. According to him, “the civil service is the first point of government to the people but sadly today the civil service which used to be the pride of the nation is now bedeviled by corruption, integrity and honesty that used to be its hallmark has been eroded.
He therefore charged the legislators both at the state and national levels to support the current anti-corruption war of the Buhari’s administration to weed out the bad eggs in the system.
He also tasked politicians to see their present position as a calling by God to serve the people and not to pursue their self aggrandizement.
