Herdsmen Menace: Delta community gives Fulani herders quit notice

In order to avoid a bloody clash, following the Fulani herdsmen menace, which have claimed many lives in the country, the Olomu Traditional Council, Ughelli South, Local Government Area, Delta State, have asked herdsmen to vacate the Kingdom in the interim for two weeks.

The decision to vacate the kingdom was reached by the leadership of the Herdsmen, led by Alhaji Jibrin, Public Relations Officer and other members of the Fulani Cattle Owners, Delta State at the Palace of HRM, Ovie R. L. Ogbon, Ogoni-Oghoro I, the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom.

The herdsmen were represented by Alhaji Jibrin Haruna, Alhaji Immam Mohammed Young-Okotie, Alhaji Garba, Rearer, Alhaji Usman Suleiman,QQRearer and Alhaji Mohammed Aliyu; while the Olomu Traditional Council led by monarch and his council of Chiefs.

The meeting which took place at the Palace Olomu Monarch followed the alleged criminal activities of herders who allegedly destroy farm crops, rape Olomu women as well as intimidating farm owners from doing their legitimate farming businesses in their own farms.

Communities , Etotas, Iwhuvwhies and Women Council.

They warned that the Fulani Herdsmen must vacate the Kingdom for failing to properly negotiate with the Olomu Traditional Council before embarking on their grazing businesses in his domain.

“The Fulani Herdsmen should vacate Olomu Kingdom within two weeks i.e, 25/06/2016-09/07/2016.”

The monarch also noted that the herdsmen are free to return to Olomu Kingdom after proper negotiation if they wish to continue doing their grazing businesses in Olomu Kingdom stressing that, “the negotiation should be led by the leader of the Cattle owners.”
