Alleged Man Slaughter: Suspect Peter Alika escapes lynching, goes into hiding

The family of Alika in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State had their new year celebration abruptly ended when news of their son’s attacked got to them. 

Siblings of Mr Peter Alika who couldn’t control their tears said they received a phone call on 01/01/2015 that their brother was involved in a fatal accident when his truck failed break along Abuja Sulaja busy road while going to deliver a trip of sand to a building site. 

Investigators by the Advocate revealed that Peter Alika who was driving at that time to meet up with his commitment to his client on the very bad road knock down a motorcycle conveying a lady with her baby on her back. 

Our source who gave his name as Mallam Tijani Umaru said the woman and her baby died on the spot, a devastating development that was followed with angry response from the community which led to the burning down of the truck and the apartment where Peter Alika lived. 

The violent development the police authority said overwhelmed them as Mr Peter Alika escaped from the scene when the community swooped on him and since then, he has been declared wanted by the community leaders and security authorities as they refused all entries for a peaceful settlement of the issue. 

A family source who spoke to Advocate anonymously said that since the sad incident happened in January 1st, 2015, their lives have not been the same, because the where about of  Peter Alika, the eldest son and breadwinner of the family is unknown, and they don’t know what have become of him.

“We don’t know if he is still alive or dead, we don’t know if the family of the woman who he killed through the accident have tracked him and killed him, since they were insisting that he must pay with his blood,” the source added.
