Ede Dafinone gets another Award for distinguishing himself in the Accounting Profession

Delta Central All Progressive Congress Senatorial Candidate, Chief Ede Dafinone, on Saturday given an Excellent Award for distinguishing himself in the Accounting Profession by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Warri, Delta State.

Chief Dafinone who is the Chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Inaugural Public Lecture Series, held at PTI Conference Center at Warri, tagged: “Petroleum Industry Act 2021 And The Niger Delta Question,” commended the chairman of ICAN, Warri District Society for putting the Inaugural lecture together.

The award-winning Chartered Accountant in his short at the event, stated the petroleum act requires a better understanding by all Nigerians, but specifically by those in the accounting profession who believes in the implementation of the Act.

He disclosed that Warri used to play a significant role in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria but has since lost that significant position over the last ten to fifteen years due largely to a self-inflicted crisis.

According to him, “There’s still opportunities for Chartered Accountants in Warri to lead the way in support services such as can be performed through the implementation of the provision of the PIA”, he said.

He also advised the accountants to take a leadership position in putting together the trust for local communities, adding that as a member of his local community, he is aware that they are yet to look at the impact of the PIA on their relationship with the Oil Producers within their area.

“This should be a hint to the host communities to start putting together their programs to the development of this trust,” he added.

The guest speaker, Mr Ayo Akinduyite FCA, the Associate Director, Tax and Regulatory Service, while speaking at the lecture, said that PIB is one of the best things to have happened to the Nigerian Oil and gas industry, stressing that if properly implemented as envisaged, it will be a win-win situation for key stakeholders in the oil sectors and the host community.
