Nani gets African Gold Merit Award 

The Executive Director of Finance and Administration at the Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Olorogun Barr. John Obukohwo Nani was today honoured with the African Gold Merit Award (AGMA) by the AfrikanWatch Network Communication.

According to the organisers, Chief Nani was honoured in recognition of, “the dignity, honour and pride he has brought to the Urhobo Nation through his human capacity building and leadership strides”.

The award ceremony was part of activities marking the 11th Lecture of the AfricanWatch Lectures tagged “The Rightful Place of Urhobo Nation in National Politics and Economy….  A direction towards building viable bridges” delivered by Gen. Dr Felix Oviemo Ovedje Rtd. OFR.

Olorogun Nani who was represented by his Principal Secretary, Comrade Odiri Milton Sagboje, thanked the organisers for this strategic role to positively position the Urhobo Nation and for recognizing his humane contributions to better the lots of the Urhobo people, noting that the award will spur him to do more for the Urhobo Nation, Delta State and Nigeria at large.

Other awardees include posthumous awards to Chief Mukoro Mowoe, Chief David Dafinone and Olorogun Micheal Ibru, and Meritorious Awards to other Urhobo patriots who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of human endeavours.
